It’s no surprise that kids can easily get distracted sometimes. They’re doing homework then suddenly they’re playing video games. And sometimes you just need to spend a day cleaning house and you need to keep your kids distracted and entertained while you do it. Here are some all day activities for you and your kids.

First, you could ask your kids to help you clean all day, but that probably won’t happen. However, it won’t hurt to ask, and if you don’t ask you’ll never know!

Building a fort is an all day activity. Just give your kids a lot of pillows, blankets and bed sheets and send them to a room that you’re not cleaning. Let them go nuts building a huge, elaborate secret fort. Your kids might need a small break but as soon as they stop they’ll remember how cool it is and go right back to it.

You could setup a scavenger hunt for them. Hide 10 different things inside and outside your house, and give your kids 1 clue at a time. Once they find that object they come give it to you, and you just give them the next clue and they’re off. With enough clues, you can keep this up the whole day.

Going to the a theme park like Six Flags is always a great way to spend a day. Most kids are absolutely thrilled to ride all the different rides and spend all day (and all night) at the theme park. It can get a little expensive, but if you bring your own lunch you’ll save a ton of money on food.

If you don’t have a lot of money but still want to get out of the house, going on a day hike is perfect. Pack a lunch in a backpack, and bring a camera. Go for a hike, let your kids take pictures and just enjoy nature.
