Easter is over for another year, but the rubbish isn’t! I had a thought about just how many easter wrappers most of us will throw in the bin at this time of the year and what a waste it is. They are so bright and colorful and easy to cut. What better medium for our kids to get creative with!

Collect up you easter egg wrappers as your children work their way through their collection of eggs. Ask your children to take care while unwrapping the eggs and they can help carefully flatten them out and store them in a container.

This is also a great way to teach young children the different colors and patterns that you will find on easter egg wrappers.

Your children can then cut the easter egg wrappers into different shapes and stick them onto paper, or an other decoratable surface, such as a box, tin, or jar.

For children that are too young to use scissors, you can cut the shapes out for them, or even let them tear up the easter egg wrappers themselves.

The possibilities are endless with this type of craft, your children can create many different types of art, from collage to very detailed pictures made from many different tiny pieces of easter egg wrapper. Your kids can even mix the wrappers with other types of material such as string, paper, ribbons etc.

All you need is:

  • pair of scissors
  • glue stick
  • easter egg wrappers
  • paper or something else to stick the wrappers onto.

#Note: Try to discourage your children from handling their piece of art work too much once it is finished, as the wrappers rip very easily. You could even consider laminating your child’s crafty creation.
